These days as my kids are growing up they are not at home a lot of nights. That leaves me eating dinner alone. I like to have left overs for another meal. So this little one pot wonder is great for that or for serving 2 for dinner.
Now let me tell you about the new pot I am using from Waxonware! This 3 quart size pot is perfect for so many small meals. The stone green pan is natural and eco-friendly sauce pan is a healthy & natural eco friendly option.
What is amazing about this pot is it is cadmium free, no lead, no PFOA! Nonstick is the trick to win my heart as well , this pan is perfect.
The handle is even made of oven safe silicone so you can bake with this in the oven. Sweet if you ask me. I love items that can serve a duel purpose.
After testing this pot out a few times it goes down in my kitchen history as one of my all time favorites and believe me I have tried a lot of pot and pans!
Wow it is back to school time already. I can not believe this summer has passed by so fast. Families get so very busy in the fall. This is the perfect time for a home cooked meal that is ready when you get home with no fuss. This is an easy meal to prepare that anyone can do.

I recently needed to replace my outdoor lighting on my home. I bought this little beauty at Hayneedle.com at an amazing price.
I want to share with you how to install a new porch light! This can only take a few minutes and make a big difference & anyone can do it. My home is older so it was time for an update.
I purchased my light at Hayneedle.com. They have so many home selections to choose from for every home need. I also purchased a cotton Laura Ashley Quilt & a mortar & pestle. I am in love with these.
Hayneedle has so many great items for every single home need. The service, delivery & quality are top of the line. I am pleased.
Today I am featuring Angie of The Country Chic Cottage!
I love Angie's farm house cottage. She has a mix of this and that new & old to create her family home with her special touch of vision. First let's get a glimpse of her colorful front porch. I love the different shades of green & blues she is using here. With her clay pot water thrinkler. What a peaceful place to sit and rest! Plenty of space for visitors or family to chat & relax.
Next I want to point out her foyer. She has done a great job adding in a modern print on this chair with her antique items. I love that oil lamp on the table. The succulents in the wagon below are darling. Her father in law made that wagon long ago. You can't see in this picture but she has a cool vintage soda bottle collection at the top if this shelf!
I want to next point out my favorite highlights of her super functional mud room. Here below is displayed a seat her husband made that will be a family heir loom. I love the wooden boxes shes using to catch shoes & such under the coats.
Here is an old painters box she is using to display treasures her son brings in from out doors. I think this is brilliant.
Check out her vintage soda crate shoe catchers. Yet again pure brilliance, bringing vintage yet functional to the home.
Next up some highlights of her farm house bed room. I like her old vintage furniture she is using. Most people now a days are painting everything white. I love white but I also love the original stain look that is true vintage. I am so happy to see an actual farm house room that looks truly farm house! I liker her Better Homes & Garden quilt she is using.
Look at this amazing no work to it, quilt display using an old latter. This idea I am seriously inspired to try! I love her window in time display of past loved ones in the window. I also want to point out on her blog she shares how she recovered that little bench seat too.
What a bright, comfy, cozy room. She used an old wood stove in its old glory to bring a rustic look while upholding a sweet plant. She was smart to use this as a plant stand!
In an extra room she took a day bed and is using it as a couch. Love the mix of patterns in the throw pillows. They look fantastic together bringing variety to what may of been a dull space. They tie in a fun adventurey way with the map display.
I love this small bath room. She has a lot of great storage solutions for this small space. Yet it looks pretty with a flow too!
Here is a shower curtain she made that is extra long. You can see how to as well at her blog!
Now just get back bathroom heaven. This bathroom with all the windows, space & that soaker tub is just divine! She shares how she painted the tub at her blog.
Now here is a snippet of her Spring mantel decor. Also her mantel is homemade from barn wood! Just perfect for a country farm house.
Look at these vintage cabinet & that tile! I love her collection of glass displayed. In the back of the cabinets to make it pop she used foam board covers in shelf paper! I have that same shelf paper print & love it I thought that was neat. It looks amazing in the back & makes her items pop with out being over baring. And just check out that pallet art with a mason jar.... too cute!
Her dinning area is sunny & lovely. With her homemade cafe curtains it's bright & airy goodness. Now I love her old farm house table below best in my opinion but in the next picture you'll see her new table she now has which is pretty too & a bit more modern.
Look at that REAL wood floor. O my I love love love it.
Her craft room is a place where creation dreams are made. It has come a LONG way since her first debut of her craft room years ago. Her room is every crafter's dream come true!
Thank you so much Angie for allowing us some beautiful glimpses of your home.
I thought it would be fun to explore the benefits that ordinary houseplants hold for us humans. God created them all for a reason. I am super excited to share some of my findings with you today. Personally I love their bright presence in my home. Houseplants are just awesome.
Welcome readers to my second Tours of Home installment! I am so excited about today's house tour. It is of a fellow Homeschoolers house here in my fine state of North Carolina. She has such a talent for nesting her home for maximum coziness that I admire. Please welcome Sherry from ThriftMyHouse.
Her front door area is open & inviting as you enter. You see a lot of natural light dancing on the floor. Love it. I love her white door by the way it used to be stained. When she painted it white it made it look so fresh and made the impact of a bigger looking room I think!
Here is her sweet living room. I read her post recently on her Jute rug obsession and it is so cute. She shares all her new jute rugs in the house. My favorite one is in fact this one below in her living room. She really does think outside the box and makes it HERS. I would of never thought of layering a rug on top of a rug!
I just love this gallery wall. All the varieties of frames is delightful with reflections of their home life looking back at them daily!
Sherry used to have these curtains in her dinning room. But she wanted to use them in her bathroom area. So she cut the long curtains to fit her needs and made these fabulous no sew curtains! They work great in that space don't ya say?!
She really does Thrift her house. She even made this amazing sign for a Mothers Day gift from old baseboard that was laying around in her attic! Wow. Not a dime spent yet it simply is amazing and something you'd see for at least 20-30 dollars at a home store.
Welcome to Sherry's family laundry room where they tend so tidy to the needs of the family. And what better place to do it than this room! I love her fascination of numbers and how she has used them over the years from ornaments in her holiday flare to laundry room care! ( I made a little rhyme there)
She took an old armoire another part of her house and painted it white to place in her kids bed room. I think it looks so pretty & up to date with that cute little banner above it! I love the maps & countries pictures to. Just so amazing how it all ties together. Color simply pops and glows in all it's splendor more next to white!
Look at this dinning room wall. Packed with tons of sweet southern goodness I love the flow of it all.
In Sherry's Kitchen I love the way she took off only the cabinet around the sink's doors. Very nice way to display things. And look at her checkered flooring she actually replaced her floor for free! Look at her facet that is perfect with this floor. I think that floor goes well with her black & white & gray theme. It is beautiful! I really love the cabinets are not all white and she left the stain. It looks kinda vintage in there!
You have got to go by her site to see the before picture of her bed room. The transformation is amazing. I love this inviting room. It is such a peaceful looking relaxing place. Now look below at where she moved this white bench seat to!
Now instead of the bench seat she has this little bench at the foot of her bed she painted right up so cute after finding this sweet little bench for a $1.50!
Sherry had a hallway she wanted to redo that had nothing really going on in it. She really livened it up and tied it like a bow to match the rest of the house!
Here is a peek into her back yard garden. I love the Farmers Market sign she made with the mirror how cute. And the water hose wreath is darling. I love the pallet shelf too and it has inspired me to do some of my own!
Sherry thank you so much for allowing us a peek at your lovely home. It is so inviting & warm. I admire your uses of blacks & white & grays and really love the flow! You have tied the whole house in nicely together. I also admire the times you took things right from your own house and re-used them in a new way you really do thrift your own house and it has won my heart. I am forever a fan.
Ok at the Southern Womens Show in Raleigh this year I met the cutest couple. They are sweet as sugar. I think it might be why their business is called Two Lumps of Sugar? The love this couple shined through their communication with each other certainly gave due honor to the business name! Just to cute. And Denises husband was so very funny he should of been a comedian! Any how they ladened me with goodies to take home & review for you all.
I received the Trunkster Folding Storage Caddy, the Trunk Liner, & the Ruffle My Apron. First up for my review is the Ruffle My Apron. Oh my I get all vintage and giddy inside when I talk about aprons most certainly this one. Why you say? Well this apron is stain proof, & adjustable for any height women. It has ruffles.. hello!!!!!! It is the perfect addition to this little southern ladies kitchen. What is so funny as I was testing this apron, I cooked a meal while watching Andy Griffith Show and Aunt Bee came on screen wearing her apron, perfect timing. Wearing an apron is such a badge of honor to the homemaker. It is our uniform. It says mom is on the clock. I even have a small cleaning company I use my aprons for to home make for others. It is classic & classy yet all while doing it's duty of keeping you clean while you work. Aprons transcend time. I seriously believe the high quality of this apron even with years of use will provide the opportunity for this apron to be a family heir loom?!
My final thoughts on this apron. I can't get enough of it. I love it. The best apron I have reviewed to date. It is going to last for the long haul. This is far better than one you will find in the store I PROMISE!
Next up to make my job as a homemaker easier I got to review the Trunkster! A super large folding storage caddy for all sorts of goodies a lady must haul. You can use it for the market, the beach, picnic's what ever you can imagine the Trunkster is the caddy to do it with.
It came with a removable trunk liner that can hold your cold stuff. I love that it is removable because sometimes I may not need this. You can buy as many liners as you need and have 3 per caddy or just one. So versatile!
I also love the fact that the Trunkster is made from plastic bottles! How cool is that to take trash and turn it into new treasure!
We had a cookout coming up so I saw that as the perfect chance to try out my Trunkster at Walmart. It fit nicely into my cart.
The liner was so roomy to fit so many meats. I could of fit more than I needed to buy that day!
It held all my food I need to grab for the cookout in one bag. I was able to organize things into groups easily. I was so happy not to bring home a ton of plastic bags I would have to get rid of. This is so earth friendly y'all. Compartments are my thing and this has plenty of them for me!
Typically when I shop for so many things at once I would have to make trips back & forth from the car to the house with bags. Not with my Trunkster! I was able to lift it up & out alone on ONE trip! Wow.
The placement of the sturdy handles makes it easy to lift & carry. My shopping is now forever changed with this brilliant product!
I just have to award Two Lumps Of Sugar's products my Homemaker-Mom Seal of Approval. They have designed flawless products that I know I will enjoy for years to come. I love the fact they are business owners right here in Cary North Carolina too and I love to support small businesses so check them out on the web and start enjoying their products for yourself. These will in fact make super gifts!

Ok turkey meat right now is so much cheaper in price than beef. Not to mention it is healthier. I love the Jennie O brand. I am so thankful to be a Switch Circle blogger for Jennie O and share with you the benefits of turkey! Today I am sharing with you a fast easy way to have a healthier tasty burger. I took Jennie O's pre- pattied burgers and added homemade taco seasoning. O boy does this burger have flavor.
If you do not want to use taco seasoning packets then you can make your own homemade. I am super impressed with how this recipe I found online came out. To make it healthier use organic seasonings or low sodium versions! All the ingredients are what most kitchens have on hand anyways! Super easy, just grab these items below and mix it up. Store in a dry sealed container for later use.
Taco Seasoning Mix
I had a great old frame. I didn't want to put photos in it but do something different. I put in some neutral wrapping paper in the back. I bought a Dollar Tree wall cling sticker. I am so thankful they are easliy removable in the event I want to use the frame for something else.
I simply cut the sticker in half. I placed it on the out side glass part of the frame. With the wrapping paper back drop and the sticker on the top of the glass it made it look 3D-ish. This craft seriously takes less than five minutes. You can use any wrapping you have on hand and any frames. You could even use a Dollar Tree large frame for this.
I like to decorate with meaning. I love the saying of this sticker for my family. This looks high end but only cost me a dollar since I already had the frame & wrapping paper. I love it!
I received this Purex product in exchange for my honest feed back as a Social Insider.
Purex is at it again with brand new innovation. This is their new stain fighting detergent. The best one yet. I have been testing it myself.
To get your clothes clean & bright and also safe for colors this is your detergent. I love that it removed the stains without discoloring our clothes! The scent is fresh & light just how I like it. No one in my family is allergic to this detergent.
I love the stain fighting power of this product. I am thrilled to test it and find it worthy of my Homemaker-Mom Seal of Approval! Now don't forget enter below to win your own bottle!
I still have cans of indoor outdoor spray paint I bought on clearance last year. I wanted to challenge myself to see how many things I could paint out of three cans. I like crafting but love to be frugal about it. I do not want to go buy more paint when I already have some on hand that can serve many purposes. I love dyi as well. So this was the perfect challenge to set for myself. I had so many rusty things that needed a little love. I also had a few thrifted furniture redo's I wanted to do. I simply wanted to see how many things I could make in a day with these three cans of paint. Below are all the projects I got done out of my left over three cans of paint! I was so happy it went so far! Forgive the photos I took most of them on my phone and it was very cloudy. None of it is Pinterest worthy but hey it's my real life and this is it from my view. Wink Wink.
I was able to score 2 of these tables! I only took a picture of one but there is really 2 there that I painted!
So what I got out of 3 cans of paint:
I painted each thing with a few layers too! I love the Krylon primer & paint that is indoor or outdoor. It is so durable and multi- functional!
Ok this is yet another cheap but good Dollar Tree storage organization solution. All you need is one pack of hangers from Dollar Tree and one package of shower hooks!
Just place the hooks on the hanger that's it!
Get your tank tops! Just place them on the shower hooks by the straps. You can even place more than one per hook if you want but use two hangers if you do this.
That is it. It only take 5 minutes to clear out your tank top drawer! It is amazing to hang all tops easy on one hanger. They are so easy to access as well when you need them. I just love this. Sadly I can not take credit for this great idea. I saw it on Pinterest! Gotta love it!
I do not have a backyard yet. I live in the city in an apartment but I have, for 2 years, been doing my research for when I do get a yard when we purchase our next home. I plan on having back yard chickens for many reasons. I would like to share my reasons why according to the research I have done by talking with people who actually have back yard chickens. And by reading up about the matter. Now a days you can live in the city or just outside and have mini back yard micro farms. Many cities are allowing chickens as back yard pets. So if you live in a city check with your city ordinances to see you can have chickens in your back yard. I decided when I do have chickens, I will not have a rooster. They are loud as heck I discovered once while staying next door to one. I found out I can have eggs without the rooster! But with out the rooster you will not have baby chicks. No problem for me.
8 Benefits of having backyard chickens
I am sure there are more great reasons of having a few chickens, but these reasons are a great start from what I see so far. Oh and by the way they are herd animals so you must have at least 2 if you consider getting back yard chickens. Please do not have just one by itself. Until I get my own back yard chickens I will continue to enjoy learning about them and admiring those who do have them.
As you can tell at my web site I love easy & frugal crafting. A few years back I created this scarf basket idea that went crazy on Pinterest. You can view that original post here. It went on to be my most viewed Pin from my site ever in the history of my site & my Pinterest. Go figure. I thought it time to do a new post on this and show it brand new all over again. This time I call this basket Spring Fling!
All you need:
So you just take your scarf and weave it up and over. This is so easy. Make sure when you start you leave a couple of inches or so hanging out to tie later when you come back around.
Be sure to puff up and out your scarf a little so it is not totally flat. This helps fill it in nicely. I would do this once you have weaved around the basket first not as you go because it will mess up as you weave.
For all the rows I just weave it to the start point then take the two ends and tie it once and weave back in the rest of the hang that's left. You can stop on any row you wish for your basket. I think just three rows on this looks great as is but I will do all four rows to show you as well.
Here is the finished product. It's so bright and cheery. I love this craft. It was fun to think it up a few years ago. It's so cheap to make. This one only cost me $5 dollars. It only took a few minutes and makes me smile. You can use this for cute storage for so many things or reasons. You could even use this method when making a large gift basket from someone.
