What is Geocaching? Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (container) hidden at that location.
I love adventure. I want more adventure in my life. I thought Geocaching would be a great place to start. Right here in Raleigh there are plenty of Geocaches. You can sign up online just Google Geocaching. You can even download a Geocaching app. It truly is a real life treasure hunting game. I wanted to document my first attempts at it. When you find a geocach you take one thing but leave one thing behind. You also sign the log.
It was so tiny. Smaller than an old film bottle. Skinny as a pencil. I choose not to show what is inside each geocach as to not give it away to any future treasure hunters.
These first two geocaches was right in the middle of my city right off the GreenWay walking trails. So you really felt like your on a hike to do this. But some of the caches are hidden in not so woodsy areas in our city too. Some are in the more urban part of my city. I can't wait to go downtown to find them. My daughter enjoyed the tunnel we found on our journey by foot. I enjoyed the little friend I found on the tree when I stopped for a rest.
So my journey so far with geocaching has been great. I am enjoying the walking, hunting the treasure, the great scenery and things I find along the way. It truly is a mini adventure. Looks like I am hoooked from here on out for this awesome journey. Any one can geocach! You should try it in your area sometime. If you download the app look for me! My screen name is sdjaxson and you can follow my journey to see all the geocaches I have found in time. There are so many out there. I am sure to find better treasure in the future. I plan on getting a wooden treasure box to house all my geocaches I took home in time. I loved leaving behind something cool for others.
See you on the hunt!
