Hello everyone reading. I wanted to share with you my super easy Sunday dinner we had this past week. I was so thrilled to try Hormel's Cure 81 dinner ham. It is already prepared you simply heat up. This smoked & cured ham is packaged in natural juices for maximum flavor.
I wanted to try a new glaze so I went toHormel.com to seek some advice. The Apple Honey Glaze struck my eye as something my family might like so I gave it a shot. The aroma & taste of this glaze was simply amazing on the ham. The ham by itself is awesome but why not have a glaze, ya know?
Apple Honey Glaze ( as taken from the Hormel.com site)
½ cup honey
¼ cup apple butter
¼ cup packed brown sugar
1½ tablespoons prepared mustard
In small saucepan, heat all ingredients until sugar is dissolved. Makes approximately 1 cup, enough to glaze 8 to 9-pound ham.
It was a BIG hit with my family. They loved it better than any glaze I have made. It only took minutes to make for the ham. This was so pleasant to discover at Hormel.com . I love the fact that I can print any recipe I like there and add it to my personal recipe book! You should really visit the site and see for yourself how easy it is and how helpful it is for new ideas in making your family meals.
I also wanted to serve a casserole side with the Apple Honey Glazed ham. Thanks to the Hormel site I also got the idea to add the Hormel Real Crumbled Bacon to the traditional green bean casserole. I prepared it the same way I always do but just added in the Applewood Smoke Bacon Crumbles to give it a flare of new flavor to accompany the Apple Honey Glazed Ham.
Here is a shot of the casserole before I cooked it after adding in the bacon. After cooking I added some fried onions too, then popped back in the oven for 3 minutes to brown. Adding this Applewood Smoke Bacon gave it the new twist with the easy effort I was looking for. It really did pair very nicely with the Apple Honey Glazed ham, just as I hoped it would! We warmed some of the kids favorite dinner rolls and the meal was complete.
Thanks for coming to our simple Sunday dinner. I like easy & simple and this meal is certainly easy to do. I hope you enjoyed the ideas, I know we sure did!
