3 Reasons Why You Need To Use Groupon Right Now That No One Ever Told You

7/20/2017

Picture

Reason number one and I love this one.... are you ready?  When you refer a friend and they use
Groupon you earn $10 in free money per  person to use at Groupon that could equal to free food, free trips, free eating out, free spa days, free local attractions and more.

Picture

Reason number two why you should use Groupon is it really can enhance your life by saving you money. Yes, saving to use towards the family budget is great, you can do that if you need to, but I have a bigger picture idea for you for. A bigger vacation you have always dreamed of some day. Where would you go?  Why pay full price for something if you do not have to.  Let's say you take the difference you save with Groupon each time you use them and put that money in an account and use it to invest in something to grow your money. You can literally grow your wealth by using Groupon. Then someday seriously take those dream vacations you have always wanted to take. It is possible if you set your mind to it!

Picture

Reason number three is they now have coupons. You do not even need to purchase a deal, join Groupon nor sign up for their email if you do not want to. You can use their coupons at your next trip to Wal-mart or Target for example online or offline in store.

I need to go visit family this summer and I will be going through Groupon to use coupons for Hotwire and Travelocity. Yes you can save money at those sites stand alone but why not save even more money by visiting them through Groupon using their coupons for those very sites! That is smart money. Smart savings.

The Rock Rose House.
It is Spring and new things are in the air including brand new homes! I just love homes and touring homes.  Today I wanted to share with you a home tour of a new Maberry Style (55+)  community in Clayton N.C. called The Walk at East Village.  My husband is a little bit older than me and will be 55 before I know it so this community really caught my eye to get ideas. Plus I just had to let you know they are having a grand opening event this weekend. After the tour check out the information below for some weekend fun.
Picture
I love the contrasting blue porch roof. This would bring me joy for sure.
Picture
I love all the modern stainless steel appliances. The tile is on point.
A variety of designer-grade, custom Cottage and Village-style homes ranging from 1,668 to 3,044 square feet, with three finish options at set pricing levels, are available from the $290,000s to the $500,000s. Even the base level comes standard with granite countertops, soft-close cabinets, wooden shelving and built-ins, with options increasing in quality from there.
Picture
The laundry / pantry was roomy and airy. Love the sliding door entry to it. It will not get in the way since the entry is adjacent to the kitchen.
Picture
I really like the open concept. If your working in the kitchen you can see whats going on with the family in the living area.
Picture
Built in shelves are simply fantastic for treasures.
Picture
The large picture window has a great view with lots of natural sunlight.
Picture
The dinning area has plenty of space for family and holiday visits around the table.

Wainscoting envy.

As you approach upstairs you come upon a second little living room. Or you could use it as an office space.
Picture
Bedroom number one.
Picture
The the bedrooms are spacious and flowing which is a perfect feature.
Picture
His and hers sinks with ample natural light in view.
Picture
The built in seating in the shower is not only great for seniors but for any age.
Picture
This classic tile is a great option from shower to flooring. The way the shower is designed a small shower wheel chair if needed could fit in and roll in with ease for special needs.
Picture
Bedroom number two is a great place for guests. Might I add all the closets are fully walk in with tons of storage space in each room.

Bedroom three provides even more spacious living.

New Active Living, Age-Qualified Community in Clayton Celebrates Grand Opening April 22

Mayberry-Style Community Provides Relaxed Living with Adventure Around Every Corner

Clayton, North Carolina – April 4, 2017 –  The Walk at East Village, a new construction 55+ age-qualified active living community in Clayton, is celebrating its grand opening with a public event Saturday, April 22, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Prospective homebuyers and the entire community are invited to the family-friendly event to enjoy live music, free food and drinks including a neighborhood pig pickin’, model home and site tours, raffles, helicopter rides for homebuyers and more.

The Walk at East Village, located at 75 Bladen Pl. in Clayton, offers custom-grade homes with a touch of Southern charm. It also offers a unique pocket neighborhood concept designed to help its residents connect. It is the only dedicated 55+ age-qualified community of its kind in the Southeast. Thepocket design creates a neighborhood within a neighborhood, with clusters of eight to 12 single-family homes facing each other around a shared common space such as a garden courtyard or walking path. With large porches out front and cars tucked in garages in the back, residents enjoy a greater sense of social environment, connection and security.

The Walk at East Village is also designed for activity. From the walking paths, a putting green and a heated saltwater pool with lap lane, to the 12,000-square-foot club house with a high-end fitness center, pickle ball and bocce courts, and a community garden, there are plenty of activities for everyone. The community’s activities director will also be developing programming around niche interests, such as arts and crafts events, cooking classes, happy hours and more.

“Whether you’re looking for someone to play golf with or the simple ability to chat with neighbors from your front porch, The Walk at East Village is designed for you to live at your own pace,” said Joe Smith, CEO of TIMU Group, LLC, who is developing the community in partnership with TH Clayton Development Company, LLC. “Our development team is based locally so we’re proud to be making such a meaningful impact on our own communities. Our leadership team is onsite daily to ensure the highest quality construction. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on with everyone at the grand opening event!”

The Walk at East Village is not only bringing a new kind of active living neighborhood to the area – it is also revolutionizing the home buying process with an online system developed specifically for the community. The price listed online is the final selling price, not a starting point. This approach to home buying makes the purchasing process easier and more transparent, eliminates bait-and-switch pricing and still gives the homebuyer a large range of style options to choose from, working through the unique online platform and showroom experience.

About The Walk at East Village:

Investing In Me at Cyclebar

11/19/2016

Picture
As the new year is approaching I have been thinking deeply. Reflecting on this past years goals and what will be the new years goals. One that I had for 2016 was to get in shape. I am not where I want to be. I will say that this year I did more than the prior year towards that goal through out the year, so with that said I will keep moving forward at what ever pace I can but at least it is going forward! I was asked recently to discover CycleBar in Raleigh. I thought the timing could not of been more perfect. I was wanting to try something new towards my health and wellness goal. And you know I love adventure.

Picture

Let's face it if you are not as active as you should be, going to a gym can be a little intimidating. This year I had been exercising at home. So most of my anxiety left when I walked into the door and saw the fun party like atmosphere. Instead of a feeling of I know I should do this yet feel dread I felt pumped! Really!

Picture

The staff was top noch amazing, helpful, bright and cheery. Which helped to take away the first anxiety I had about my new adventure. Now don't get me wrong I was excited too, just you know what I mean!

Now the first stop is the sign in wall. You sign in on the tablets. Next you pick out your shoe size. On the bottom of these shoes are clamps that lock into the bikes pedal to keep your feet on track and secure. You do not have to use these but I enjoyed using them to be more secure.

Picture

Next stop was the refreshment bar. They make sure before you go into the bike room you are hooked up with plenty of H2O. I was asked by this gentleman if I like my water room temperature or chilled. The Cyclebar water bottle are yours to keep or you can give it back.

Picture

The bike room is awesome. It is so many things to so many people. It can be a battleground to beat the spirit of laziness. It can be a sanctuary to retreat from stress. The staff helps you get the bike adjusted to your level of comfort before the session begins.

Picture

Your individual bike is equipped with everything you will need. From monitor, towel, water, weight bar it is all here.  I was on the front row. See the large fan in the front of the class? It was funny, the instructor after pumping us a bit to get us going said you had to work for the fan! Great way to look at it and boy I wanted the fan. The music was motivating to get you going no matter what mood you may be in as you enter the room. The instructors say they are part educator, DJ, drill sargent, and motivator. Was it true? Yes! They are every bit of all that. I know without the instructors motivation I couldn't of done it on my own.

Picture

After your ride they have the refreshment bar with complementary drinks and fruit to recharge you. I forgot the mention they have lockers for your things, a shower, towels & shower gel all FREE for you to use and be heading on to your day. It is fantastic they thought of everything to make your ride as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.

Picture

This is the Cyclebar community wall, which I think is a great idea. It is the gathering of all to know.

Picture

Now one thing I did not mention yet, the instructors claim, is to come along side you and be a friend not just staff. This was my instructor Whitey. Her attitude is so contagious! She shared her story of why she is into the "ride". Her story mirrored mine in some ways. She found out she had heart problems and decided to take matters into her own hands to not allow the heart problem so to speak be a problem! Way to go Whitney and it is the exact motivation I need because I too have some minor heart issues. I want to be victorious over my health as Whitney has done. She also wanted to wake up everyday and be happy at what she does and she has accomplished that hands down. She loves sharing empowerment with others to lift you up and tell you, you can do this! I am excited to hear more of the stories of others encouragement and be a part of becoming a more empowered, healthier me on this journey.

Picture

They spoil you at Cyclebar. All the business swag you see is free as well. They really hook you up.

Picture

Any gear you may need on your fitness journey they offer for sale as well. In a non to shoppy way, the items are displayed gingerly around the lobby for your browsing enjoyment.

Picture

As I begin this journey at Cyclebar I look forward to it. I look forward to meeting new people. I look forward to a fitter me. I look forward to being more empowered over my health as 2017 approaches. What better way to start off a new year and end the old. This year has been a stressful year for me and it is time I set aside time for me and to have some self care. I think Cyclebar is the place to really do that.

A Night To Remember with Wycliffe

11/7/2016

Picture
Years ago one of the first ministries I heard of when I became a new chrisitian was Wycliffe Bible Translators. I would like to explain what they do but first share some facts with you.
  1. There is 7097 Languages worldwide
  2. There is 3071 languages yet to have a written language
  3. It used to take 20 years to translate a Bible
Picture
Now with new technologies Bible translation has been on hyper drive! Below is a sample of the MAST system.
  • M=Mobilized
  • A=Assistance
  • S=Supporting
  • T=Translation
I loved seeing the technology displays and hearing the explanation of how they work in 3rd world countries out in the middle of a jungle for example.
Picture
This is the TNT. Tablets for National Translators. They have a team of local people help with the Bible translations by giving the team these tablets. It rapidly speeds up the process that used to take years. In a world of violent extremists who do not want people to hear the word of God speed is of the essence.
Picture
I love this mini POD (Print on Demand) before they would have to wait forever for Bibles to be printed in another country now they can get the word to them on the spot with this POD. The written word on paper instantly is better than nothing I say.
Picture
I heard two testimonies that night. One was a video testimony of a Bible translator leader. He was in a dangerous area that he could potentially lose his life. He had people on his team whom in fact did die for the cause. Another deeply moving testimony was the guest speaker Grace Fabian. Her and her husband spent over 20 years ministering, living & loving to the Nubuk people. They worked faithfully helping to get their people group's language into written form so it could be translated into the word of God. One day her husband was brutally killed by one of the Nubuck friends. She was first on the scene to see it. As she held her husband in her arms and pulled the ax out of his skull her life was forever changed. She struggled with finishing the call. But she rose again by faith after some time and with help finished translating the word of God to the Nubuck.  Now that tribe and people group can have the word and know salvation. Grace forgave. Love won. The word of God coming to these unreached people groups does not come without a price at times. May God bless all the missionaries & those who donate to the cause! With out the Bible how will the people know of salvation or learn how to live in peace?
Picture
Speaker---Grace Fabian, missionary stateswoman, author of “Outrageous Grace” Bible translator makes ultimate sacrifice
Visit Grace at www.gracefabian.com
I am so honored to of spent the evening with Wycliffe to hear what they are currently doing in the world and how far that God has taken this ministry over the years. It is projected to have all the people groups reached with the Word of God in their own written language by 2025! Please help make this goal possiable. There are many ways you can help by visiting Wycliffe.org

Will America Be Great Again? Rise Up For What Is Right.

10/22/2016

Picture
This is what Trump Rallys really look like. People show up unlike at Hillary's!
Will America be great again? I ask myself this often as I watch our nation spiral downward. But what changed my despair was the day I went to a Trump Rally. I felt such energy in the room from the people it was inexpiable. I attended the event earlier this year but did not write about it. I sat on sharing my views but now that I have rebranded my site and it is called Suzie's View why not. It is my view. This is still America and I have a voice. I was so encouraged as I saw hundreds lined up trying to get into the Amphitheater to hear Trump here in Raleigh, N.C.  We stood in the cold waiting for a long time but I saw all sorts of good people who are fed up with the way things are in this nation. And to see us all coming together to huddle in the cold for hours to get into a building to hear what Trump had to say just did something to me. It revived me and the American spirit.
Picture
As we now sit months later on the edge of the election trail, waiting to see who will be our next President, I pray. I pray for a better America. I pray and hope for a better unity. I pray and believe for at least one last great revival. Before this years election I was becoming so disenchanted with America and the political corruption. Our government has become a monster, point blank. I do not want it continuing to get out of control. With it in bed with big pharma, baiting race wars that was not real, dabbling in foreign politics sticking it's nose where it does not belong, telling us how to raise our kids and educate them, not taking care of the vets who risked their lives for our safety and the safety of others. The list of sins goes on and on. It sickens me. But I see a movement opposite of what corrupt media reports.
Picture
I see a movement of people sick of it all,  coming together to support each other and make a change. I see passionate people like Diamond and Silk who have such a fire for all people and equality for all. They are making their voice heard. Everyone's voice matters in this nation.  I see Trump who is a successful man who wants to change what is broken in this nation for the PEOPLE and by the people! I have long admired Trump ever since I was a child. I do not like his past mistakes but we all have a past. We all make mistakes. But one thing Trump has done is persevered. He knows how to deal and knows America has been dealt a bad hand by it's leaders. Trump is smart. He is not a puppet. He can lead us back to prosperity and safety with God's help. Hillary is not what will be good for this country. She is part of the problem, People listen, years before Benghazi she has murdered. People I encourage you to dig  and read on her. Really dig and get information. I have.  Do you really want someone like that running our country? Stop being a sheeple and flowing the crowd.  It is time for real change. We don't need any more puppets for people like George Soros & the elite.
Picture
As I have watched our media lie about Mr. Trump I have been seeking other news sources like Right Side Broadcasting on Youtube who will show the rallies live and show what main stream media will not show. They show the huge supporter turn outs for Trump that the Hillary camp media fails to show in their pictures or camera shots. I have seen it with my own eyes. It is totally disgusting the Hillary campers at our rally's disrupting Trump so rudely as he tries to speak. But you never find a Trump supporter at Hillary's dinky rallies making a fuss being rude. I saw one to many people make a scene and have to be escorted out. Let's not lay down and be doormats any longer!
Picture
My view from where I was at the rally. So many people around me I couldn't fit all in the photo.
Listen to this historic speech at Gettysburg, P.A. today. Be inspired. America can be great again if we the people stand up again! Make your voice heard! Stand up for what is right. Let's make America great again.

One day I had some time to myself. I wanted to explore and visit a place in my city I have not yet visited. Here is Raleigh resides the last 18th century water- powered grist mill in Wake county. This mill was established before the Revolutionary war.  Yates Mill historic park is free to visit 7 days a week from 8 a.m - Sunset. Tours of inside the mill are available too during certain times. When I visited the mill was not open but that was ok because there was plenty of beauty to behold.

There is a museum at Yates Mill that shares the history of Yates Mill and how the mill works.

Yate Mill brings nature indoors and shows specimens upclose. At first it scared me when I opened the drawers but I got over it as I had always wanted to see these birds up close. I love bird watching!
Picture
Picture
With lots of history comes lots of artifacts. A lot of what is on display is items found around the mill from the past buried treasures for us to see later!
Picture
Picture
They have a kids play area with dress up items for period dress up from the Yate Mill opening era. They have toys for the little ones too. I love the cozy spot they provided with rocking chairs for adults to sit and relax as you watch the kids play.
Picture
Picture
Picture
I love the view from the large porch that looks out over the water at the mill. You can go and sit outside on the porch in the rocking chairs and relax for as long as you want. I took the time to just sit , crochet and talk to Jesus while there. I felt as if I was on a mini vacation away from the city.
Picture
The view of the old loved mill is stunning from the porch.
Picture
There is a trail going around the mill you can walk at it's 1.0 mile distance it is an easy trail to endure but so lovely & worth the stroll.
Picture
Picture
Here is the water source that powered & still does power the mill, called Millpond.
Picture
Picture
I loved peeking under the old mill. There was so much to see around the mill to take in. You must visit to see for yourself.
Picture
Picture
I absolutely love this view of the mill next to it's water source.
Picture
This trail is also a animal refuge. The view is simply stunning as you walk around the Millpond. So peaceful.
Picture
I love all the piers with free viewers you can look through and explore.
Picture
I sat on this pier and read a good book as I listened to nature.
Picture
When you finish the trail it brings you back to the back porch. I am so glad I got off my normal routine and took time to get out and explore because this retreat day was fabulous. What a diamond this park is and at the price of free it has it arms wide open to you, to warmly welcome our citizens of Wake to come home to the Mill and share. The mill was a place in the day even after it closed that families gathered around on weekend and shared meals & stories. The park has done a great job making this place cozy for people to come yet again & again to get rest from the city.
Picture

This park offers so many programs for the public. From organized groups to general public.  They have events through out the year as well. Check them out!

I was recently invited to a VIP Party at Peachy Keen & Joint Venture Jewelry. I want to check them out so off I went to have a mom's night out.  First thing I noticed was some cute clothing I just had to browse through out on the boardwalk.
Picture
Picture
Picture
I enjoyed some tasty party snacks!
I love learning about local businesses and why did they create their business. Peachy Keen & Joint Venture is a family owned business. The parents owned a vintage jewelry consignment store & now run that along side their children's business of the Peachy Keen Boutique. One half is the jewelry store the other half the clothing boutique. I thought it was simply charming & honorable they have their family history hanging on the wall proudly. So sweet!

Here is the mother & daughter team.
I love family business! Every one is involved the mom, the daughters & even the dad!

What better way than to spend an evening having much needed mom time seeking out a new treasure or two for your wardrobe. Here are the highlights of my night.
  • I loved getting a sneak peek in their closet of the fall line up, so fun & cute.
  • I loved the customer service & detail. Their commitment to make me happy is amazing. You simply will not get at a typical retail.
  • I got something from the boutique that makes me feel amazing & I am picky with clothes let me tell ya. I am thrilled with my selections.
  • I got some way to cute & yummy Peach gummies with my purchase as a treat later as a surprise! Why to go y'all.
  • The packaging of my items stellar.
  • They shared space with community vendors like Headbands of Hope. They give a stylish head band to a child fighting cancer with each Head Band purchase someone makes.

Summer Shake Social at PDQ

Ok what better way to spend a summer evening than to be invited to a #PDQshakesocial and help PDQ choose their new shakes for 2017 ! I want to share with you my evening but before I do I just have to share here a sample of PDQ's gardening right here outside. I love it. I notice the gardening around most places like this maybe more so than the average dinner goer in a hurry because I am in love with summer & flowers of summer. I really do like to stop & smell the roses. I think PDQ does an outstanding job in their landscaping. It is truly inviting.
Picture
Now let's go inside to the party. If your ever looking a spacious party room for a casual gathering you really should try PDQ.
Picture
I walked in to colorful balloons filling the room. I loved the festive bright summer colors. It sets the pace for FUN.
Picture
Hillary Hahmann always sets a great table for us partners. We had a cute summer time cup to take home filled with swag coupons. They even let me take an extra one home to try and when over a family member with who has YET to try PDQ and shame on them. I hope after that cute cup & coupons they just can't resist the place. I love the fact PDQ actually stands for People Dedicated to Quality. Every experience I have ever had this year with PDQ has proven to me they really do dedicate to quality. I go here now when not at a party as a customer and I see them with the same excitement, smiles & tender loving customer care I see the nights of the gatherings, not to mention quality food. It all around just seems to be a better option to me than ANY other eat out place do to the food freshness, quality & the caliber of people that seem to really love their job. It is just a great family friendly atmosphere. I have to say my 21 year old son has been a life long Chick Fil A fan and still loves them BUT he told me a month ago his favorite fast food eatery is now PDQ and told me the reasons why. It takes a lot to sway my son. PDQ did it.
Picture
I was happy to discover this time they have grilled chicken tenders. I really did not realize that the last few times I had tenders here. I was so happy about this healthier option! I also just had to have some more of the zucchini fries. Prior to the meal they had us do the sauce tasting too with fries & I discovered 2 new homemade sauces I loved. So happy they make their own sauce fresh!
Picture
Picture
Now on to the judging. We got to help in judging 11 shakes. They will use the information to pick the seasonal shakes for the up coming year 2017! This was exciting to be a part of. And of course my sweet tooth was happy. I am not going to dive into the shake information here you'll have to make sure to visit your local PDQ in 2017 ( don't wait visit now too LOL) to see what shakes are new in the line up. But let me tell ya........ what a fun job this tasting was. My kids came along and assisted gladly. I had fun doing this and networking with others. It was fun meeting others in the community & laughing together.
Picture
Here are the 3 lovely ladies who made the tasting a success, Brittney Turner the Raleigh Marketing & Catering Coordinator, Chas the lady who shook ALL the shakes for us, & Hillary Hahmann The Carolinas Marketing Manager.

Thanks Hillary for the invite and keep up the great work PDQ!

Two Lumps of Sugar

I received these products in exchange for my honest review.
Ok at the Southern Womens Show in Raleigh this year I met the cutest couple. They are sweet as sugar. I think it might be why their business is called Two Lumps of Sugar? The love this couple shined through their communication with each other certainly gave due honor to the business name! Just to cute. And Denises husband was so very funny he should of been a comedian!  Any how they ladened me with goodies to take home & review for you all.
Picture
Picture
I received the Trunkster Folding Storage Caddy, the Trunk Liner, & the Ruffle My Apron. First up for my review is the Ruffle My Apron. Oh my I get all vintage and giddy inside when I talk about aprons most certainly this one. Why you say? Well this apron is stain proof, & adjustable for any height women. It has ruffles.. hello!!!!!! It is the perfect addition to this little southern ladies kitchen. What is so funny as I was testing this apron, I cooked a meal while watching Andy Griffith Show and Aunt Bee came on screen wearing her apron, perfect timing. Wearing an apron is such a badge of honor to the homemaker. It is our uniform. It says mom is on the clock. I even have a small cleaning company I use my aprons for to home make for others. It is classic & classy yet all while doing it's duty of keeping you clean while you work. Aprons transcend time. I seriously believe the high quality of this apron even with years of use  will provide the opportunity for this apron to be a family heir loom?!
Picture
My final thoughts on this apron. I can't get enough of it. I love it. The best apron I have reviewed to date. It is going to last for the long haul. This is far better than one you will find in the store I PROMISE!
Picture
Next up to make my job as a homemaker easier I got to review the Trunkster! A super large folding storage caddy for all sorts of goodies a lady must haul. You can use it for the market, the beach, picnic's what ever you can imagine the Trunkster is the caddy to do it with.
Picture
It came with a removable trunk liner that can hold your cold stuff. I love that it is removable because sometimes I may not need this. You can buy as many liners as you need and have 3 per caddy or just one. So versatile!
Picture
I also love the fact that the Trunkster is made from plastic bottles! How cool is that to take trash and turn it into new treasure!
Picture
We had a cookout coming up so I saw that as the perfect chance to try out my Trunkster at Walmart. It fit nicely into my cart.
Picture
The liner was so roomy to fit so many meats. I could of fit more than I needed to buy that day!
Picture
It held all my food I need to grab for the cookout in one bag. I was able to organize things into groups easily.  I was so happy not to bring home a ton of plastic bags I would have to get rid of. This is so earth friendly y'all. Compartments are my thing and this has plenty of them for me!
Picture
Typically when I shop for so many things at once I would have to make trips back & forth from the car to the house with bags. Not with my Trunkster! I was able to lift it up & out alone on ONE trip! Wow.
The placement of the sturdy handles makes it easy to lift & carry. My shopping is now forever changed with this brilliant product!
Picture
I just have to award Two Lumps Of Sugar's  products my Homemaker-Mom Seal of Approval. They have designed flawless products that I know I will enjoy for years to come. I love the fact they are business owners right here in Cary North Carolina too and I love to support small businesses so check them out on the web and start enjoying their products for yourself. These will in fact make super gifts!

#Zucchiniseason Launch Party

I was happy to recently attend a launch party for PDQ's new Zucchini Fries. What is PDQ you ask?
P = People
D = Dedicated to
Q = Quality

The original PDQ is called Tenders and was a Chicken Shack near Lake Norman (about 30 minutes north of Charlotte).  They used no freezers and no microwaves and kept everything fresh.  Bob Basham (founder of Outback Steakhouse) and Nick Reader (Youngest CFO in NFL history) loved the food and concept.  They bought Tenders and developed into PDQ which opened about 4 and a half years ago in Tampa FL.  We just opened our 54th location since then and are in FL, NC, SC, Nevada, GA, NJ, TX, and AL.

I love the fact that Hillary Hahmann the Carolinas Marketing Manager of PDQ is reaching out to the community in fun educational ways like this party. I like that even at PDQ they call your order by name and your treated as a valued person not just a number. She also told us also about how PDQ this summer will be feeding over 5000 hungry kids in our own area who can't have that meal they once had during school season while out for the summer. For every kids meal you buy at PDQ this summer one meal goes to a kid who is hungry. I say that is FANTASTIC & way to go PDQ!
The party room that PDQ offers is super for get togethers, meetings, birthday parties. I had no idea they even had one until this party! They had each place set for us with cute summer time swag to take home. Hillary even had us play Zucchini triva which I won a gift card! Woohoo. My teenager attended the party with me and she out smarted me in the triva winning the bigger gift card! Way to go Gabby! Reminds me of that show Who's Smarter Than A Fifth Grader? Who's Smarter Than A Teenager was her mantra that night.
Picture
There was pretty flowers to wear & a photo booth. So cute. I am not so comfortable doing selfies but it is bound to happen as a blogger. I am learning to not worry about it and just shine who I am as I am.

I learned so much about PDQ at this party as they hosted a tour of the back & showed us how they make the food. How fresh everything is and nothing is processed. I was won over by that. I love that it is ALL fresh foods, in house made sauces & drinks. They even gave us a shot at trying the potato press & making zucchini fries. At the end of the tour we even made our own milk shakes now how cool is that?!
Picture
I tried the potato press that was fun. But it was kinda tuff so this guy must have some muscles to do this, wow what a work out!
Picture
Now let's talk about the star of the night. The Zucchini fries. All of us agreed they are amazing. They are just the right amount of crispy & not soggy. The flavor is the best and simply keeps you grabbing for more. If you have a PDQ in your area you have got to try these!

Last week I went to the Raleigh area Southern Women's Show. It was my first year going and boy did I have fun. I went to the blogger sneak peek party first, the day before. That was an awesome way to kick off the events just right. Barbara from Teen Cancer America spoke to us first sharing the reason behind LetMyLoveOpenTheDoor.com. PDQ catered dinner and it was an amazing spread. They even had free #Margaready for us (which I don't drink but hey). We got a sneak peek tour of the buildings and all it would hold during the show.

Sweetheart Treats was at the party too sharing with us there delicious cakes & cupcakes. Look these sweet ladies up on Twitter @yoursugarfix & Instagram @yoursugarfix

I met one of the speakers at the Sneak Peek event that would be at the Southern Women's Show Barbara Grufferman, who truly inspired me. I was happy to connect with her one on one before the show started Friday. Barbara stays busy,  the author of The best of Everything After 50, a spokes person for Always Discreet & a few other companies, makes t.v. appearances & a traveling speaker, author, blogger. WOW you name it. Her message was on time for me that night with somethings I am struggling with at this stage of life. Grufferman spoke on a few key topics for us bloggers. Keep YOUR voice, she taught. I so needed to hear that In a world of blogging sometimes you may look at someone else's blog and try to be like them. She said BE YOU. She also spoke on natural beauty and to be the BEST you, aging positively. She is 60 and looks amazing! Babara runs marathons and stays fit, I so admire that, truly displaying & encourages age is only a number. She is YOUNG! What a sweet heart she even blessed me with a signed copy of her book out of no where. Speaking with her was like speaking to a friend I knew forever. As I am now aging into my 40's I think her wisdom is right on time and I can't wait to read her book. Connect with Barbara on Twitter @BGrufferman and on IG @barbarahannahgrufferman

I NEVER take selfies lol but she took a selfie of us.

Now about the event it self  when it was opened to the public the next day, & was fabulous. The only day I could go was Friday, but they held the show all weekend. I took a friend and stayed all day. I even gave some tickets away to other sweet ladies who wanted to go. That was FUN! It was amazing. I really did shop till I dropped y'all. There was just to much awesomeness to capture it all for you here. I suggest you visit the Southern Women's Show web site to see what all they have and stay in touch so you can catch the show each year in your area!

Food Lion had cooking shows all day including their live with real chefs version of the show Chopped!

The best part is I met some of the sweetest vendors in the world. I made connections with them and listened to why they started their business. I love small business and want to really connect with the local Raleigh small business & show support. There was over 200 vendors at the show. But here are some shout outs of my favorites below. I had so many favorites I can't fit them all here today but will share some. I loved truly getting to know these people and hearing their story. I love these Made in the USA home grown shops! I will be doing an up-close view at each of these businesses and sharing their story with you in an upcoming posts. I can't wait to share with you what they do and why they do it!
