Last weekend me & my son went for a drive. We love to sometimes drive and explore the city we live in that we moved to over a year ago. I love random adventure. We came to a corner that had an extremely old building. They had an open house. We said let's go see! This house is the Crabtree Jones House that used to stand on the lot you see below where the new apartment complex is! Preservation North Carolina saved the house from it's doom of being demolished and moved it only feet away on it's own large lot.
The house is believed the be the oldest remaining residential house left in Raleigh. It is on the market for sale! You can purchase it and renovate it. This house is around 200 years old & is a listed historical site. This Federal style house was built in 1809 and started off as a one story but transformed over the years.I am so happy I got to go take a peek inside at how it looks now from the years of history before it is bought and renovated into a residential residence. So come along with me to peek at the past before it becomes modernized! Forgive the quality of my photos but all I had on hand on this random trip was my cell phone camera!
There was so much more to this house than I have showed in my pictures. I wanted to just give a glimpse & somewhat document this historical home in it's current state before it is renovated. I think the years & stories this old house could tell would be awesome. I think of all the past 200 years of people that lived in this house and how each family saw their own history in the making. If only houses could talk! Thank you for coming along with me to peek into the past.
