Today was such a beautiful fall day. It was not to hot nor to cold. Just a tiny chill in the air to remind me its a new season. The sun was shining and so I went outdoors to enjoy the day before cold sets in this year. I had some flowers that had died that needed trimming back. I also had one that was over grown and about to die. So I cut all the blooms off and cut back all the dead so it can regrow. I the cut blooms off to make a pretty fall center piece for my table!
I also weeded my little herb gardens in the back yard. I made the mistake of not tending to it enough when I was growing cilantro. I lost my cilantro harvest. But I have used the other herbs off and on all summer. I wanted before it was to late, to harvest some last remaining herbs before the season gets to cold and I have no more for a while. I gathered some sweet basil, some basil seeds to save for next year, some parsley, some chives, and a lot of rosemary. My rosemary bush is large at least. It was given to me by a dear friend a couple of years ago. So if you need some fresh rosemary I will mail you some. I have a lot!
I love the outdoors. I wish everyday felt like today did outside. It felt great to get my colonial court yard all cleaned up too! But sadly before we know it winter will be here and all the green things will be dead for a season. I will so look forward to spring and all its beauty. But I will find things meanwhile to cherish about fall and winter , I suppose. The fall colors of leaves aren't so bad ! I am so thankful for today.
