My Grandma was a farm girl. She was raised a farm girl and then went on to marry a farmer. She was a farmer her whole life until my Grandpa got sick with cancer when I was about 8 or 9. Then they no longer farmed. She was a very blessed woman with a large family but was by no means $ wealthy. She was creative with what she had. She would take pillows cases for example and make lots of interesting, beautiful & useful things out of them. I do not own hardly anything of my Grandmas but this one coaster she handmade out of a pillow case! I also own one of her hand made table runners but its to big to frame to keep safe ( its falling apart) SO I chose to frame the only other item I own my Grandma made. I am not very good with tread & needle and envy those who are! My grandma was a natural for needle work! I adore her talent and creativity. She was an inspiration to me. My grandma died years ago followed by my mom. I will cherish this coaster and remember her beautiful simplicity!
To make this I had some scrap booking cork letters I got for ten cent on clearance, some gray scrap ribbon, a pretty piece of paper & tiny little bit of hot glue & some tape . I also got this frame on sale at Michaels. I was able to display Grandma's piece nicely yet frugally!
