It’s that time again where your a homeschooler or public schooler, and you want to make sure you and your children are prepared. There are many ways for families to transition back into a school schedule, but why not save money doing so? In order to prepare your family for the school year this requires a plan. Start changing sleep schedules now so that you guys are used to the routine. Transitioning into a sleep pattern is easier when done ahead of time. Start to ask questions about supplies, food, clothes and whatever else may need to be purchased before beginning. Here is where you put your parenting skills to use by executing, and doing so on a budget. Shop while things are on sale, reuse any materials which aren’t damaged, even if it is just for your bills, etc. Buy snacks in bulk, and use items for both adults and children. By buying healthy snacks both of you enjoy, you will not only save money but will also be eating healthy as a team! One thing you must keep in mind as a parent is that discipline is important, to both you and your child. Before the summer ends, both parents and children should get in the routine of reading. This will get your mind back into the loop. Save money by renting library books and magazines. Everyone knows that when kids go back to school they expect new clothes and accessories. Well, theres no problem with that. Shopping at discount and thrift stores should never be out of anyone’s range of options. Many people look down upon this, but what they fail to realize is that there are plenty of new items in this store, all you have to do is look for them. Just because it isn’t new to the old owner, doesn’t mean it can’t be new to you. To all the home schoolers as well, shift things around to the way they will be for the school year. This will allow you to get a feel for things, and be accepting of what’s to come. Going back to school doesn’t have to be stressful. Make this year’s back to school activities comfortable and fun for you and your family. Instead of just doing things, make an activity out of t! Have your children set up their study areas and allow them to decorate. While choosing the best snacks, allow input on both ends and bond with your children. Make a schedule early in the game, and stick to it. This can include a sleep schedule, a reading schedule, a work out schedule, a meal schedule, a play schedule, or anything else you’d like to include. This year going back to school will be a breeze!
