As moms, housewives, homemakers, our sleep is very valuable. If we do not have a good nights sleep it can affect our day, those around us & our health. I used to have trouble sleeping. But I found some tried and true ways to help myself have a great nights rest!
Set a bed time. I used to stay up all hours of the night with no set bed time. This affects you in so many ways and is not healthy. Even if your set bed time is not exactly the same each night due to activities try to have it in the ball park as much as possible.
Relax. Before bed, simply relax. I know it's sometimes hard to do, but it's important to tell your body to slow down.
Make a to do list for the next day. After that clear your mind! If you make a list then you won't be worrying in the middle of the night, I hope I remember to do this tomorrow! Let all thoughts of what should be done tomorrow clear away after your list is done. Instead pick up a book and read or knit to relax. When you are reading or knitting do it in bed so your mind is telling your body it’s time for bed.
Soft Lighting. I have soft lighting in my room at night, beside my bed as I read. I suggest not having lights beside your bed brighter than the noon day sun! It's been proven by testing that the more light you have in your sleep area, the more your brain says it's time not to sleep!
