In this day in age with Pinterest and all the perfect looking holiday decorations & Christmas trees you may feel a bit over whelmed to try and have the prefect tree. Well I am not here to dazzle you with what I think is the perfect looking tree. There is enough bloggers out there that can supply that. I am here to be super down to earth & super cheap. I am truly starting to see the beauty in imperfection lately.
Our family tree each year has varied in size. Varied in themes. Some years we used all homemade ornaments. Some years store bought. One year I remember running my light bill up baking all day orange slices in cinnamon for a colonial tree. This year we still live in an apartment so space is limited. We have a little table top tree. It is a five foot tiny little thing we have in the living room on our very tall wall. We decided to use Dollar Tree ornaments this year. Yep nothing fancy & super cheap. I like to be frugal as you know. Other than something you make free at home from stuff you already have, you can't get much cheaper than a dollar in America for a cute pre-made ornament. My whole tree is all dollar tree items. I also went right outside my home & found some cute little pine cones. I cut up some scrap red & white checker fabric I had already to make ribbons to hang them. I am guessing our theme this year is a winter woodland theme?! lol
I used to think that for a holiday you had to decorate every inch of the home. I now realize truly that I do like to decorate but I love keeping it simple. I find the beauty in simple. So only a few spots in my home will have holiday accents not every where you look.
I have been studying lately and really I do not believe Jesus was born on the day our world celebrates his birth historically BUT however since this society does celebrate it in Dec. this tree is decorated for Jesus mighty Yeshua! Happy birthday Lord Jesus!
My girl ever since she was old enough to help decorate a tree since age 2 she has hung an ornament super low on a branch dragging the ground. At times the perfectionism in me would want to move it when I was a younger mom but I learned to heed knowing someday I would miss it. It's been 16 years. She is 16 and I don't think she realizes she still does it. I do. I have seen it every year and I cherish it. I will miss the day it doesn't happen any more. So this year that ornament stays again hanging super low.
I like the little white snow trees Dollar Tree had. I also loved the snow ball bells & the snow deer! But my favorite is the little birds. I used the cardinals since it is our state bird. I was so happy Dollar Tree had them.
Simple for us is better & cheaper. We are proud of our little tiny low budget tree. It does not have to cost a lot or be large to be darling & sweet!
