First I want to introduce you to my friend Rhonda Ramsey. She is an excellent writer and uses her writing abilities to help others. Here is her blog post she is sharing with us today!
Earlier this year, I was moved by and could not help but write about a situation that really touched me: Crystal Torres, owner of The Gaudy Girl Exchange, who has a child with epilepsy.
Here is what I wrote; I hope this raises awareness, as well as reminds us to always keep faith no matter what situations we are in.
Where does this path lead? How does my heart rejoice and glorify You when my feet -- oh God my feet -- they’re planted so deep in doubt, defeat …
This road. Where does it lead? Why her? Why not me? Can’t it cease? What does this mean; this journey? Where does this path lead? Please, excuse my tone, I trust in You, I have faith; that You’d never leave me all alone. But I ache, I’m human, I get tired. God, I’m tired.
God’s gifts come in the tiniest packages, don’t they? The mustard seed of hope, the seeds we sow which bloom and grow in the lives of the ones we care for, even those we don’t know. One of the greatest gifts of all -- our babies. Our seeds. Our children.
What happens when there is a journey meant for your baby before he or she can even talk? What happens when that journey leaves you clutching your chest, blinded by tears, staying strong so that your child can see you laugh instead of weep; when you really want to crumble? What happens when every step you take you feel your knees buckling beneath you?
As parents,http://arirjames.wordpress.com/2012/01/28/tiny-seeds/ when our baby’s life begins, our lives begin. But what happens to our lives when there is nothing left to do but watch a vital part of you ill and fighting for her life?
What if you, like Crystal, on 5-28-08, saw the face of your little angel for the very first time, then one year later, her little eyes became distant and fixed upon the ceiling as she lay unmoving? The first seizure of what would be many.
From that heart stopping, life altering moment forward, you would spend every second watching and waiting -- praying and hoping -- that the thought of the seizures that grip, seize and stop time and shake you to your core would disappear?
God’s gifts come in the tiniest packages. Our children can be the strongest forces we will ever encounter. So what do we do once the tears stop rolling, the prayers leave our lips, the hope keeps us holding on, yet the angst keeps a firm grip? We fight.
That grain of strength that you have left? You have it for a reason. It’s another one of those tiny packages. What do you do with it? Give it to God and let him propel you.
He will propel you.
My name is Rhonda. The best way to describe/introduce myself is this:
I am a wife, mother of two, author and day dreamer — my head is always in the clouds.
A military family, over the course of 8 years, we have gone from Texas to New Jersey, to the midwest.
I love to laugh. I love to get lost in my thoughts. I am also a student, an author of two self published novels, and several completed novels. I love God, I LOVE my family, and my passion is writing. I also have a passion for listening, music and reading about things that come from the heart.
I am excited to share the Just Beneath the Surface I summary, and I thank you for the opportunity to write and share with this site. :-)
When Kendall Berkeley takes a look in the mirror, she not only desperately wants to run away from the stranger staring back at her; but she also knows that her days are numbered. She can feel it in her bones, and has the bruises to prove it. To make matters worse, Kendall will soon discover that her seventeen year old daughter, Diamond is on a path nearly just as dangerous.
After the demise of the family unit she once knew, a distracted mother, and being forced to accept a new stepfather, Diamond finds herself knee deep in a multitude of mistakes. When Diamond finds herself more lonely than ever before she crosses paths with Bobby Lidell; a teacher’s aide with a dark side. Just as Diamond realizes that she is in over her head, her mother and father have already been notified, and will do everything in their power to protect her.
But what is lurking in the shadows will not stop until a vow has been kept; what is lurking just beneath the surface will come seeking revenge.
Thanks again for the opportunity to share.
